PIPE

Preclinical Imaging Platform Erlangen (PIPE)

Our primary area of expertise is multimodal research on the experimental and clinical level with focus on oncologic imaging. In the PIPE, we are performing multimodal imaging using MRI, CT, PET, SPECT, ultrasound and optical in small animals with translational aspects including clinical studies. Within several research networks (e.g. DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center 1181: Resolution of inflammation or the DFG-funded Priority Programme Colonisation and Interactions of Tumor Cells within the Bone Microenvironment), translational research is conducted with the aim of clinical application of imaging methodology. Aim of the PIPE is to develop multimodal experimental imaging techniques and translate these to clinical imaging. Clinical imaging is conducted in the Institute of Radiology of the University Hospital Erlangen (Chair: Prof. Dr. M. Uder) in cooperation with the Clinical Study Center of the Institute (Head: Prof. Dr. T. Bäuerle).
